Shirley passed away peacefully in her sleep at age 81.  Born in Salem, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Nancy Hignite and was the youngest of 11 children.  Moving to Florida as a child, she graduated from Pahokee High School before joining the U.S. Navy.  After completing her military service she went on to become a bookkeeper / accountant and resided in Tampa, Florida.  Her love of music was her passion and she enjoyed performing for others by singing and playing her guitar.

She is survived by her daughter Deanna Leigh Pinner and her husband Mark Pinner of Brooksville, Florida.

At her request, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
