Solvieg "Sue"Margareta Mate passed away at home in Tampa, Florida on the evening of September 2, 2016. Solvieg was born on January 20, 1940 in Stockholm, Sweden,to parents Tage and Agna Johansson. She was sister to Rigmor, Lillemo, Marita and Roy. She came to America at the age of 18. Solvieg married well-known Hungarian soccer player, Andrew Mate. They settled in NJ having three sons,Andrew Jr, Kenneth and John; daughters-in-law Leslie and Donna. She was grandmother to Kyle and Ryan, Sean and Kevin. Solvieg also has many loving relatives and friends in Sweden.

When Solvieg came to America, she started work as an au pair. Later working in retail and as a florist for many years. She was a talented artist. Solvieg enjoyed traveling,whether abroad or in the US. Living in NJ, life was busy raising her three sons, enjoying time with friends and family, being active with various clubs,and working in multiple professions. In the mid 80's, she temporarily moved to Tampa, then permanently residing in the mid 90's. Solvieg gained many friends in Tampa. Her friends share many thankful and loving memories of her. She was the type of person to always work hard, go out of her way to help others, have a positive outlook, and be protective of others. Solvieg was a spiritual person who believed God loves and protects us. I always remember her saying that angels are watching over us. Solvieg was loved and will be missed by many.
