Sonja K. Miller, 80, of Largo died at home April 6, 2023, surrounded by her family and best friend.  She was born in Hammerstein Germany, immigrated to the U.S.A. in 1952, settling in North Ridgeville, OH. As a young woman she loved to dance at the German Central. After marrying, she moved with her family to Largo, FL in 1972.

She was a nurses aide, an administrator for Pioneer Western Life Insurance, and later retired from Pinellas County Schools as a teacher's assistant.  As a homemaker, she gave back to the community as a leader in the PTA, a room mother, Girl Scout troop leader, Sunday and Bible school teacher and a Pinellas County school volunteer.  As the "OG" (Original Oma/Grandmother) she was often found doting on her grandchildren.

Ice cream for breakfast, marathon Disney movie watch parties and countless hours of games/Lego playing will forever be remembered.  Sonja enjoyed gardening in her prairie bonnet, crocheting, spending time with her girlfriends, craft making, traveling, and reading romance novels. Sonja was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, John T. Miller. She is survived by her children, Lisa (Jensen), John Karl (Michelle), and Maria (Dean), as well as grandchildren Jasmine, Ryan, Jack (Vanessa), George (Kirstin) and Shy who knew her as "Oma."  She is also survived by her brother Rainer Franke (Elizabeth), sister-in-law Lenore Callaghan, and many admiring nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 16, 2023, 3:00 PM, at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church located at 455 Missouri Ave. N., Largo, FL 33770. She was greatly loved and will be deeply missed.
