Sylvester Thomas, 61, of Tampa Florida passed away on July 6, 2015. Born in Florence, South Carolina in 1953, Sylvester has lived in Port Tampa since his early twenties where he met and married his wife of 37 years, Mrs. Peggy Thomas. Sylvester retired from Hillsborough County Public Utilities after 30 years as a Senior Crew Leader where he worked in line maintenance operating equipment. He inspired others to work just as hard as he did, leading a crew known as the "A-Team" which completed even the toughest jobs. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Thomas; three sons, David J. (Yanira) Goddu, Travis (Sherry) Thomas, and Shannon (Yvonne) Thomas; one daughter, Lisa (Michael) Dinard; and 17 grandchildren. A gathering for friends and family will be held Monday, July 13, 2015 between 5pm-7pm followed by a memorial service at 7:00 PM in the chapel of MacDonald Funeral Home located at 10520 North Florida Avenue Tampa, Florida 33612.
