It is with great sadness the family of Father Carl Last announces his passing on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at the age of 75 years.He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Doris and Carl Last and brother Donald Last.Fr. Carl with be lovingly remembered by his brothers and sisters, Carolyn (Don), Diane, Kenneth, Dale, Patsy (Ken) Jimmy, Kathy and his many nieces and nephews.
Fr. Carl attended from the University of Notre Dame to complete graduate studies in theology with a focus on liturgical studies and would have celebrated his 50th anniversary of his ordination into priesthood next May, 2019.He spent over 40 years as a diocesan priest, extending his services from the Archdiocese of Milwaukee where he served as Pastor of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, to most recently in Tampa, FL assisting at St. Timothy's in Lutz, St. Peter the Apostle in Trinity and St. Mark the Evangelist in New Tampa.As a parish priest, Fr. Carl most enjoyed being present for people through the milestones in their lives - Baptisms, weddings, funerals and everything in between.On of the greatest memories was having the privilege of spending six months in the Holy Land, walking in the footsteps of Jesus and learning the scriptures.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday, July 5th for a viewing at 6 pm followed by a 7 pm prayer service at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 17512 Lakeshore Rd, Lutz, FL 33558.A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by Fr. Kenneth Malley at 11 am Friday, July 6th at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Lutz, followed by a reception in the parish center. A private burial will be held.
