Theresa E. Rice, 95, of Juno Beach, Florida passed away peacefully on May 11, 2018 at Sylvan Rehabilitation Center, Clearwater, Florida surrounded by her family.
Born November 14, 1922, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert L. Rice and her parents, Karl and Maria Ernst.
A compelling beauty, she modeled in the fur district and Gimbel's flagship store in Herald Square, Manhattan.
Theresa was a Florida resident who enjoyed winters in Juno Beach. She was a member of the Everglades Club, the Society of the Four Arts, and a director of the Palm Beach Cancer Society. In summer months, she returned to N.Y. where for years she maintained a summer home in Water Mill, Southampton. For seventeen years she volunteered as a candy striper at the Southampton Hospital where she later served as a trustee. She was a member of Shinnecock Hills Country Club as well as the Southampton Club. She was also a trustee and an honorary board member of the Washington Crossing Foundation.
During her lifetime, Theresa travelled extensively and enjoyed many cruises with family and friends. She was an avid bridge player who delighted in that pastime.
The family wishes to extend its gratitude to caregivers and staff at Sylvan Rehabilitation & Health Center for their love and support over the past five years.
Theresa is survived by her son, John A. Mangin, Jr., daughter-in-law, C. Grace Mangin, adopted son, William L. Willard, daughter-in-law, Sue A. Willard, grandson, John A. Mangin III,Esq. grand-daughter, Dr. Marie Mangin Rush, grandson, William L. Willard, Jr. and great-grandchildren, Holden Rush and Celeste Rush.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Lawrence Church in Tampa, Fl., on Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated in Southampton, L.I., N.Y. at the Basilica of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. with interment to follow at the Edgewood Cemetery in Bridgehampton, New York. Both services will be celebrated by Msgr. Richard Lopez of Atlanta, Ga.
Memorial donations may be made to the Southampton Hospital, the Basilica of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton or St. Paul of the Cross Church in North Palm Beach.
