Obituary

Timothy Gordon Bailey died at home in Tampa, Florida on August 4, 2018. He was 58. His sister Michele Bailey, his niece Jennifer Israel, and his nephew Casey Bailey survive Timothy (Tim). He was the loving caretaker of our mother, Phyllis Joan (Rosky) Bailey who died in November 2017. He was also the loving brother of our oldest sibling, James Phillip Bailey, who died in March 2006. And he was the loving son of our father, James Thomas Bailey, long since deceased. He is remembered by many good friends, including Dianne Patterson, Randy Polo, and Dave Kelly.

Tim was a huge sports fan, proud member of Gator Nation and follower of many Florida-based teams, from baseball to hockey. I believe he is the family member who placed a huge framed piece of Gator sports memorabilia in our brother Jimmy's coffin. Tim was also a very good photographer and a pretty good writer. He enjoyed the great outdoors, particularly in the western half of the country. He lived in Portland, Oregon, a city he loved, and moved back to Florida to take care of our Mom. His gorgeous photos of natural monuments will live on in his Facebook postings, which became a much appreciated communication platform after he lost his hearing.

I, his sister Michele Bailey, am taking the opportunity of his obituary to say a few words to the brothers out there who are neglecting their health or hiding their health concerns. Please let your loved ones, your loving friends and family members, share your burden. You may believe you are sparing us, but you are probably just breaking our hearts in slow motion.

Tim was smart, funny, fiercely loyal, and kind. Do not doubt: his kindness was given freely, and he received it in return. He did not identify a charity or cause for memorial donations. I humbly suggest we all be kind to each other. He'd like that.

Per his request there will be no funeral or memorial service. However, he explicitly stated that those remembering him at the time of his death drink screwdrivers. Cheers, Tim.
