Obituary

Timothy Isaac Martin, age 37, of Tampa, Florida, passed away Monday, November 30, at Tampa General Hospital. Tim was born April 24, 1978, in Holland, Michigan, to Lloyd and Jacquelyn Fager. Tim is the second oldest sibling of a blended family of 13 and nicknamed "Big Tim." Tim is the father of a 4-year-old son, Rocco. Tim attended grade school at St. Paul's Lutheran School, high school at Luther Preparatory School, and college at Martin Luther College. He later received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science Homeland Security from University of Maryland. After years of traveling the globe as a Navy SEAL and defense contractor, Tim made his home in Tampa. Most recently he worked as a co-studio manager at the Yogani yoga studio in South Tampa and as an Uber driver. Timothy Martin was a Navy SEAL, Special Operator 2nd Class, serving between 2002 and 2007. He earned the Army Achievement Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. He was also a Navy parachutist. He later worked with the Drug Enforcement Agency and as a contractor for L3 providing support to the Special Operations Knowledge and Futures and Lessons Learned Branch and Theater Special Operations Commands. He deployed as a contractor 44 out of 54 months between December 2007 and May 2012, serving in the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, the Scandinavian Peninsula, Europe, and Caribbean. He also served as an actor and advisor on the films Zero Dark Thirty and Green Zone. Tim supported the Tampa Bay Frogman Swim for the past three years and was registered to swim this year. Tim enjoyed time with his family and would often travel back to the Midwest. Tim cherished his son Rocco and made every day fun. Tim had an ear-to-ear smile with deep dimples and everyone who ever experienced his joy and laughter will remember that smile. Tim was physically active and healthy which made his body perfect for organ donation and five people have been helped so far.
