In Loving Memory

Mrs. Velma Mae Moates Ruskin, 95, formerly of Temple Terrace, died peacefully on August 20 at her daughter's home in Seneca, South Carolina. Velma was born and raised in Tampa, Mrs. Ruskin was the former owner of Moates Florist, the oldest, continuously operating floral shop in Tampa. For more than 50 years she enjoyed helping Tampa Bay area brides plan their ideal weddings. She was a member of Woodmont Garden Club in Temple Terrace. She loved animals and always had cats.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic "Doc" Ruskin. She is survived by her sister, Vera Savidge of Brookesville; 2 daughters, Carol Carlton of Tampa and Sharon (Stocky) Becker of Seneca, SC; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at 4 pm Sunday, August 23 at Temple Terrace Faith Assembly at 8525 N 78th Street, followed by the funeral service at 5pm. A private burial will take place Monday at Myrtle Hill Memorial Park, Velma will be buried next to her loving husband "Doc". Velma was a loving mother and an adoring grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She was a very given and wonderful lady.
