Walter Boyd Hunter, 85, of Temple Terrace, Florida was called home on November 28, 2010. Walter was born in Nashville, Tennessee and moved to Southern California after being discharged from the U.S. Army in 1945, he had served in the Pacific (Army Medical Corp) during World War II."Dr. Walt" received his dental degree from University of Southern California and practiced for almost 40 years in Van Nuys, California. He was very active in civic and professional organizations. Walter was past-presidentof Greater San Fernando Valley Dental Association, past-president Van Nuys Chamber of Commerce, served on the Board of Directors at Florida College and awarded "Friend to Youth" from Florida College and served as an Elder in his church for over 30 years. Our "Pop" was selflessly dedicated to serving God, family and others. His kindness and generosity will be missed by all.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Louise Hunter of Temple Terrace, Fla; son, Brent Hunter (Gail) of San Diego, California; daughters, Tina Mowrer (Frank) of Mission Viejo, California, Becky Copeland (Wilson) of Lakeland, Florida and Crystal Hunter of Temple Terrace, Florida; sisters, Marion Ward of Booneville, Mississippi andBettye Sue Harris of Topeka, Kansas; brother, William D. Hunter (Shirley) of Redding Calif; granddaughters, Tricia Culp (Brett), Leanne Fannin (Jon Thomas), Amy Sims (Jonathan) and Allison Sullins (Brad); grandsons, Darren Mowrer, Grant Mowrer and Jady Copeland (Julianne); and great grandsons, Logan Culp, Judah Culp and Isaac Fannin. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-9 PM at the Florida College Academy, 7032 Temple Terrace Hwy, Temple Terrace. Private burial will take place at Florida National Cemetery with military honors. A "celebration of life" service is scheduled for 11 AM Saturday at University Church of Christ.
