Walter Driskill Ruth, 79, passed away on October9,2021 in Tampa, FL. Walt was born in Phoenix, AZ in 1942, and was a third generation Arizonian. Walt graduated High School in 1960 at Yuma High School, and joined the Marine Corps in 1963 where he went on to serve 10 years in the reserves, earning the rank of Staff Sargent (E6) – one of his fondest memories was of then President, John F. Kennedy inspecting his rifle at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego in 1963. After the Marine Corps, Walt was a Respiratory Therapist for over 40 years, working at various hospitals around the country as well as providing home health services. Walt loved the outdoors, including: hunting, fishing, camping, as well as an avid collector of music, records and tapes. Walt was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Paul Ruth, and Ernestine Driskill Ruth. Walt is survived by his brother William Ruth, sisters Susan Ruth and Rebecca Morris, son Scott Ruth, daughter Michelle Ruth Smith, and son Walter Driskill Ruth II.
